About ICR Landscaping Services

A local landscaping team working across Newcastle upon Tyne — hard landscaping, fencing and green waste removal handled by the same people who quote the job.

Who we are

ICR Landscaping Services is a landscaping business based in Newcastle upon Tyne. We work on domestic gardens and driveways across the city and the wider Tyneside area, doing both the hard landscaping — driveways, patios, paths, steps, walls and fencing — and the soft side, from turfing and borders through to clearing a garden that has been left to go wild.

The business started out doing green waste and garden clearance work, which is where the email address still comes from, and grew into full landscaping as customers kept asking whether we could also lay the patio, sort the drive out, or replace the fence while we were there. That order matters, because it means we have never treated the clean-up as somebody else's problem. Waste, spoil and the old surfacing come away with us as part of the job.

How we work

We are a small, hands-on outfit rather than a sales operation. The person who comes out to look at your garden is the person who does the work. There is no commission-based salesperson, no same-day-discount pressure, and no quote that arrives with a number designed to expire by Friday.

For anything beyond a straightforward waste collection we come and look in person. Photographs do not show you how much fall there is across a garden, what the ground is like a foot down, or whether there is any way of getting a barrow round the back. Those three things change the price more than the choice of paving does.

What you get before any work starts: a free site visit, a written price that says what is and is not included, and a realistic idea of how long it will take and when we could start.

How we approach a job

The things we will not cut corners on

Landscaping is one of the easiest trades in which to make something look right on the day and wrong within two winters. These are the parts that decide which one you get.

What goes underneath

Excavating to the right depth and compacting a proper sub-base is invisible once the job is finished, and it is the single biggest reason a drive or patio either lasts or sinks.

Where the water goes

The North East gets plenty of rain. Falls, channel drains and permeable surfacing get designed in from the start, not worked out after the paving is down.

Posts and fixings

Fences fail at ground level, not in the middle of a board. Concrete posts, gravel boards and decent ironmongery are worth far more than a thicker panel.

Clearing up properly

Every job is quoted with removal and tipping included. You should not be left with a heap of spoil at the side of the house or a skip bill you were not expecting.

Realistic timescales

We tell you how long it will genuinely take, including the days lost to weather. An optimistic start date helps nobody once the mortar will not cure.

Honest advice

If a fence only needs two posts replacing rather than a full run, or a patio can be lifted and re-laid rather than replaced, we will say so.

Why using a Newcastle-based landscaper matters

Ground conditions and weather are local, and they decide a lot about how a garden should be built. Around Newcastle and the wider Tyneside area you run into a few things again and again: heavy clay subsoil that holds water rather than letting it drain away, made-up and infill ground on former industrial and colliery land where the depth of decent material is anyone's guess until you dig, and long, wet winters with enough freeze-thaw to find any void left under a slab.

You also run into the practical stuff. Terraced streets in Heaton, Byker and Fenham often have no vehicle access to the rear, which means every tonne of stone in and every tonne of spoil out goes through the house or down a shared back lane. Newer estates around Kingston Park, Killingworth and Cramlington tend to have a thin skim of topsoil over compacted subsoil, which is why lawns there struggle without proper preparation. Older properties in Jesmond and Gosforth bring conservation area rules into the picture. None of that shows up on a national quoting form.
